Katherine Ferchat

Registered Veterinary Technician

A Mississauga native, Katherine was motivated to pursue a career in animal health care when, after much parental badgering, Maya the Brittany Spaniel was added to her family on a snowy day in January 2003. When she finally got a “dog of her own”; as a young teenager, Katherine realized that caring for and working with animals was what she was meant to do.

Katherine graduated with honours in 2008 from Seneca College’s Veterinary Technician program and has been an RVT at NOAH since April 2014. She particularly enjoys working with clients, nursing hospitalized patients back to health and finds great joy in seeing pets return happy and healthy to their families. Katherine also enjoys overseeing and managing NOAH’s inventory.

When she is not at the hospital, Katherine enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two daughters. As a family, they have rescued Ava, an Australian Shepherd Lab mix, Harriet (Hera), an orange domestic medium hair and most recently Tundra, a dilute tortoiseshell who travelled all the way from Nunavut to find her forever home.

Katherine and her family love being outdoors and spending quality time together. A few of their favourite outdoor activities include hiking, camping and cottaging. In the winter they enjoy being out in the snow tobogganing, snowmobiling and skating. When it is time to relax, they can often be found inside watching movies, reading and catching up on all of their favourite sports teams.
